Man Shot, Killed Near Grady Hospital Thursday Afternoon

The preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting may have started as a verbal altercation that escalated to gunfire.

Atlanta police say a man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon not far from the entrance to Grady Memorial Hospital’s emergency room.

According to Officer John Chafee, the victim, a male in his mid-thirties, was shot at least two times around 2:30 p.m. in the area of 46 Armstrong Street.

He was transported to Grady and died. His name has not been released.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting may have started as a verbal altercation that escalated to gunfire. Investigators believe that there is possibly some type of association between the victim and suspect. 

At this time the exact motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation continues.
