Man Robbed at Gunpoint Outside Krog Street Tunnel

As the victim was removing the chain from around his neck during the Sunday night incident, the suspect hit him in the head with the gun. He then put the gun to his side and stated that he would kill him.

According to Atlanta police, a man was robbed at gunpoint outside the Krog Street Tunnel early Sunday evening.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., a man said he was walking down Decatur Street when a blue, newer model Hyundai Elantra pulled up beside him. According to Sgt. Greg Lyon, a black man with a gold tooth jumped out of the vehicle brandishing a handgun.

The suspect reportedly told the victim to “give it up,” and repeatedly said he was “going to kill him.”

The suspect then went into the victim’s pockets and took his wallet, keys, sunglasses, and kept asking him for money. As the victim told the suspect he didn’t have any money, the suspect then reached for a chain that was around the man's neck.

As the victim was removing the chain, the suspect hit him in the head with the gun. He then put the gun to his side and stated that he would kill him.

The victim, who told police there were two more suspects in the car, then ran through the tunnel and called police from the nearby 97 Estoria restaurant.

The man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
