Man Robbed at Gunpoint in Hotel Room

REYNOLDSTOWN — Crimes often have strange twists.

And so it is with this alleged Aug. 24 incident in which a man, waiting in a hotel room for an acquaintance — with whom he may have fathered a child — was robbed by two gunmen.

Atlanta police, who released still footage and surveillance video of the of the two suspects, seek the public's help in identifying the men. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404.577.TIPS (8477) or send a text to CRIMES (274637).

Police gave the following account:

The victim told police he was in the room at the Atlanta Hotel at 277 Moreland Ave. SE, when, at about 1:19 a.m., two men burst into the room.

Armed with a handgun, the robbers told the 57-year-old victim "don't look up," and asked "where's the money at?"

He pointed to the dresser drawer that contained his wallet as he sat on the floor, next to the bed.

The robbers took the wallet, which contained $160, a debit card, credit card and personal identification.

The gunmen subsequently left.

The victim said "Tasha," the woman on whom he was waiting, never showed up, even though she called to tell him she was at the Exxon gas station nearby.

He said he had known Tasha for about eight years and might have fathered a child with her, but he didn't know that for sure, nor did he know her last name.

The victim, who gave a police her general description, said she lived on Cleveland Avenue SE, but didn't know her address.

In the surveillance video, yet another woman, "Shaun" is seen entering the victim's room and leaving a short time later.

The victim told police this woman was a friend of his, though he didn't know her last name and she had come to the room to get some money.
