UPDATED: Man Robbed at East Lake YMCA

EAST LAKE — Atlanta police are looking for at least five men who robbed a teen Wednesday in the parking lot of the East Lake YMCA.

The victim, 18, and a resident of Parkview, told police he was headed to his vehicle in the lot at 275 East Lake Blvd. and was near it when a silver Nissan Xterra came up alongside him in the 6:35 p.m. holdup.

The driver rolled down the window and asked for directions to Candler Road. As the victim began giving directions when another occupant of the window rolled down a window, pointed a gun at him and demanded he give over his mobile phone, keys and wallet.

The victim reported that a third passenger urged the gunman to fire.

"Just shoot him," the victim recounted one of the accomplices as saying.

He threw his phone at his assailants and ran and ducked between some cars before getting to safety at the YMCA.

The Nissan sped away, but not before the victim got the license plate number: PFF-744.

The Nissan, which was stolen from the East Lake neighborhood a day earlier, was later recovered by the DeKalb County Police Department.

The YMCA is reviewing its surveillance footage to help the police in its investigation.

It's unclear if this robbery is connected with a similar July 20 robbery in Glenwood Park, where a woman was carjacked in a parking lot adjacent to her building.

A detailed description of the suspects was not available.
