Man Killed in Friday Afternoon Shooting at Ponce and Moreland

Atlanta police are looking for two or more vehicles that were apparently involved in the fatal incident.

A man was shot to death at the intersection of Ponce de Leon and Moreland Avenue on Friday afternoon, and police are searching for suspects.

The Atlanta Police Department says that a man was apparently shot multiple times while sitting in his car at the intersection around 4 p.m.

According to an APD news release, the victim was traveling northbound on Moreland Ave approaching Ponce De Leon when "suspects approached him and fired multiple times. The victim's vehicle then continued through the intersection coming to rest on the north east corner. It appears that there may be two suspect vehicles and multiple suspects involved."

An employee of the Exxon station at the busy intersection told Patch that a customer came in and asked her to call 911 because somebody had been shot outside. The clerk, who asked not to be named, said she looked outside and saw a dark-colored pickup truck speed away.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information on the incident call Atlanta Police Homicide Investigators at 404-546-4235 or call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2000.

What does listening to rap have to do with it? Are you saying if they were listening to Ozzy Osbourne or Marilyn Manson, they would have been less likely to commit a crime?

The lack of information is truly frustrating. Get your s*&% together, City of Atlanta.

after grabbing a bite to eat, i was walking back to the highland inn in the rain at about 7pm on monday evening, october 1st, when i was mugged/jumped/robbed/beaten to hell by 3 cowards who attacked me from behind (and with a bat), about 2 blocks from this intersection. when i woke up, bloody, wet and dazed, i only had several hours in which to catch my return flight to chicago, and decided not to make a police report or go to the e.r. (until i got home), but i wonder if the same idiots who attacked me are responsible for this horrible crime. i couldn't describe them (as i was attacked from behind in the dark), but i certainly hope that karma catches up with their asses.
