Laptop Taken In Inman Park

Thief snatches computer as victim was working

Atlanta police are looking for man who snatched a laptop as the victim was working on it on the patio of the coffeehouse.

The theft occurred at about 9:15 p.m. Monday.

The thief, who escaped to the nearby BeltLine trail, is described as black, six feet tall, a 150 pounds and in his 20s.

He was last seen wearing a tee shirt and jeans and a green beanie.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911. For any ongoing crime concerns, Inman Park residents should reach out to Greg Scott, the Inman Park Neighborhood Association's vice president of public safety at public.safety@inmanpark.org.

Earlier this year a nursing student was hit at Inman Perk when a thief walked in and snatched the laptop she was working on out of her hands.

That theft was followed by series of similar snatch-and-run robberies at coffeehouses in the city, including one in .

At last week's Grant Park Neighborhood Association meeting, Claire Farley, assistant district attorney for Fulton County, residents the office is renewing its Electronic Surveillance Serial Number registry.

The Fulton County DA's office will maintain the database and in the case of robberies, trace the serial numbers of stolen items that wind up in pawnshops, Farley said.

"That helps me," she said. "I actually win good cases by prosecuting folks when we can trace the serial numbers back. That's what's called evidence."

She also advised people should take photographs of valuable possessions such as jewelry and silver and other items that don't have serial numbers.
