Kirkwood Murder, Suicide Victims Identified

All three shot multiple times

The three people killed in a Sept. 8 murder-suicide in Atlanta's Kirkwood neighborhood, were each shot multiple times, the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office said.

The victims are identified as:

  • Charles Wood, 48 years of age
  • Derrell Pearson Jr., 24 years of age
  • Angela Pearson, 50 years of age

Angela Pearson was Derrell's mother.

Wood is believed to have shot mother and son before turning the gun on himself, Medical Examiner's Office director Patrick L. Bailey told East Atlanta Patch.

Two guns — both belonging to Wood — were found at the scene but it was not immediately clear if he used both or just one.

The shootings occurred inside a home in the 2200 block of Ridgedale Road NE between Hillcrest Avenue and Rocky Ford Road NE.

Atlanta Police say the shootings appear to stem from a domestic dispute.
