Kidnapping Attempt in Old Fourth Ward

Police: Man in pick-up truck tried to snatch a 7-year-old girl.

The Atlanta Police Department issued the following alert:

On Aug. 22 at about 7:45 p.m., a black male driving a black pick-up truck attempted to kidnap a 7 year-old girl from the corner of Parkway Drive NE and Angier Avenue NE.

The victim and two of her friends, ages 9 and 12, were walking on Parkway when a man in a black pick-up truck slowed down and asked the girls where they were going.

The girls ignored the man and continued walking, and the man exited his truck, grabbed the 7 year-old girl, covered her mouth so that she couldn’t scream and began dragging her toward his truck. The other two girls grabbed the victim and attempted to pull her away from the suspect, who then released the girl and fled the scene in his vehicle.

The girls described the suspect as a black male, about 50 years old, bald-headed, being about 6’1” tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a blue shirt, baggy shorts, and red Converse All-Star shoes.

They described his truck as a black full-sized pickup truck with silver rims, possibly with spinners. The rear window of the truck had decals of either flames or lightning bolts, red and orange in color.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404.577.8477. Information can be submitted anonymously and callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

jump on this Rodney. And if you do not want the personal contact with the police for any reason what so ever, I can help you with an anonymous resource. (kim@genkiatl.com)
This is a horrible and unfathomable potential crime avoided, THIS TIME. But know, without a doubt, this man will not stop and the next time he will probably succeed in grabbing a young girl and doing despicable harm to her before he, most likely, kills her and dumps her!

We spotted her last night (Thursday) just before the storm hit and chased her down May to CliftonRead More then up to Glenwood, where we think she turned into that development under construction across from the school. The storm swept in, and we lost her ... she was clearly panicked. Been back on the hunt this morning with no sign. Please call or text us at 423-653-5636 if you spot her!!!
