Jury Selection Underway In Boyer Murder Trial

Opening arguments are expected to begin Wednesday in the trial of the alleged 'Jack Boys' gang.

Jury selection is underway in trial proceedings against four men in the alleged gang-related murder of a Virginia Highland man in late 2010 and a crime spree that left a wide swath of Southeast Atlanta residents living in fear.

Tamario Wise,19; Raphael Cross, 23; Robert Veal, 18; and Fernandez Whatley, 21, are each charged with a variety of crimes outlined in a 90-count indictment, including the murder of Charles Boyter in November 2012.

All four defendents are alleged members of the 'Jack Boys' gang, and also are charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, rape and participation in criminal street gang activity during a Oct. 19-Nov.27, 2010, crime spree.

In addition to Boyer's murder and the rape of a Grant Park woman, the crime wave allegedly included 17 armed robberies and six carjackings throughout the Virginia Highland, Grant Park, Ormewood Park, Lakewood Heights, Old Fourth Ward and Benteen Park communities.

Opening statements are expected to begin on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012.

They'll all do a little time and then be released way too early because of overcrowding, overcrowding due to the hundreds of arrests every month for minor traffic violations that could be handled by tickets. Priorities- Gotta keep that $$$ rolling in, even if it means that people like this don't serve a full sentence.

It will be a huge injustice if these animals are not up for the death penalty.

In the state of Georgia there is no parole for armed robbery. So if they get 20 years they will have to do 20 years if they get 100 years they'lldo 100 to the door. Now if they murdered someone and didn't do a armed robbery they could be out sooner. As far as I have know inmates who has done non violent crimes are getting out due to overcrowding. Not much in our justice system makes sense to me!
