The DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office said the man shot multiple times last week on I-20 West near the Glenwood Avenue exit is 42-year-old James D. Lewiel.
As East Atlanta Patch first reported, the victim, whose stage name was OG Double Dee, was part of a well known hip-hop team named Freebandz. The rap artist, Future, is the most famous artist from the team and is currently in radio rotation.
Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution death notice.
DeKalb Police are still looking for clues into a possible motive and leads to the white SUV that was seen fleeing the shooting.
The AJC's funeral notice says that Lewiel’s funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Life Church in Decatur. The burial will be at Kennedy Memorial Gardens in Ellenwood. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, which is at 3592 Flat Shoals Parkway.
A search on Twitter reveals a number of R.I.P messages to the rapper.
