Gunman Nabbed in iPhone and Shooting Robbery

OLD FOURTH WARD — Atlanta police arrested a gunman they say fired at and robbed another man headed home from work early Monday morning.

The suspect, Deontrix Robertson, who has been arrested at least 15 times since 2001 — mostly on drug-related charges — is charged with armed robbery in the theft of the iPhone 5.

The victim told police he was on his bicycle and was at the intersection of Renaissance Parkway and Central Park Place just around 12 a.m. on Nov. 4, when Robertson allegedly tried to knock him off the back and drew a silver handgun.

At one point, the victim snatched a black cap from Robertson’s head before the gunman fled down Central Park Place.

The victim gave chase but told police he stopped after Robertson allegedly shot at him twice. He said he lost sight of the gunman when he turned east on Angier Avenue.

When police arrived, they found Robertson a short time later. Robertson denied having been involved in the robbery and that he was playing a slot game at a nearby gas station.
