Fire in Lake Claire Apartment Complex Sends One Person to Hospital

Victim listed in stable condition

An early morning fire at the Candler Park Apartments in Lake Claire sent one resident to the hospital from smoke inhalation, Atlanta Fire Rescue said Tuesday.

The fire, called in at 6:49 a.m., was in apartment building B of the complex at 2040 DeKalb Ave.

Firefighters found the victim on the floor in one of the bedrooms of a ground-level apartment, suffering from smoke inhalation.

The victim was treated at the scene and later taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

While that one apartment suffered heavy damage, none of the other 31 units were evacuated.

Fire officials have not yet determined the cause of the blaze.
