EAV December Crime Report: Incidents Rise 50 Percent

Auto thefts and assaults lead the increase in figures

Crime incidents jumped 50 percent in East Atlanta Village in December, compared with November, the East Atlanta Security Patrol reports.

Auto thefts saw the biggest jump with 8 reported in the last month of 2011 compared with 1 in November.

There were 5 reported assaults in December, compared with none in November.

In all, there were 39 crimes reported in EAV in December, up from 26 in November.

But compared with December of 2010, the figure is down 9 percent from the 43 crimes that were reported then.
