UPDATED: East Atlanta Shooting Suspect Turns Self in to Police

Terri Chimon Williams, 35, will be charged with murder.

The woman wanted in the Oct. 8 shooting death of a mother on Bouldercrest Road, has turned herself in to authorities, Atlanta police say.

The suspect, whom police identified as Terri Chimon Williams, 35, will be charged with murder, Atlanta Police Capt. Paul Guerrucci said Wednesday, in a news briefing.

An argument between Williams and the victim — 34-year-old Charlese Brooks — at the Meadows Plaza strip center at Bouldercrest, Flat Shoals Avenue and Flat Shoals Road, escalated into gunfire.

Brooks, a mother of 10, was shot multiple times.

Guerrucci did not elaborate on the what the argument was about and said the investigation is still ongoing.

Some neighbors said the shooting was sparked by a text but Guerrucci would say if that was true.

Initially, police thought the two women knew each other, but now, investigators say they might not have.

It also is unclear if Brooks was the intended target or if she was trying to break up an argument between Williams and another woman.

Still, Guerrucci said investigators don't think this was a random crime.

Williams' attorney, W. Scott Smith, sent a note to Channel 2 News Wednesday that stated she turned herself in voluntarily.

"We feel that law enforcement will perform a thorough and professional investigation into this incident," according to the letter Channel 2 reported receiving. "Once completed, we strongly believe that Ms. Williams will be fully exonerated."
