East Atlanta Crime Report

Burglaries, auto-break-ins and thefts

Two burglaries were reported in the week ended Sept. 3, the East Atlanta Security Patrol said.

The first was in the 1800 block of Montvallo Terrace SE. It is believed to have occurred between 8:30 a.m. Saturday and midnight Sunday.

In the second incident, an A/C unit and refrigerator were reported stolen in the 1000 block of Bouldercrest Drive SE. The EASP said that theft occurred between July 20 and Aug. 31.

Other reported crimes in the week:

  • A car break-in the 1300 block of McPherson Avenue SE
  • Mobile phone theft at Midway Pub (caught on camera)
  • Theft of money from a coin machine from the Texaco filling station at Eastland Road SE at Bouldercrest.

To help reduce crime and encourage more community involvement in crime prevention, EASP received a pledge of up to $5,000 from two Villagers.

They'll match, dollar for dollar, any new membership sign-ups through Sept. 30. EASP, which will give new signees September for free, will put the funds toward evening and weekend patrols in high risk areas.

EASP also released a year-to-date crime stats report for the three Atlanta Police Department beats — 610, 609 and 304. Those three beat groupings cover the core East Atlanta Patch neighborhoods of East Atlanta Village, Ormewood Park and Grant Park, as well as other communities in Southeast Atlanta.
