UPDATED: Driver Hits Pedestrians at Asylum

The driver of a '67 Camaro tried to flee but was caught.

EAST ATLANTA — A motorist slammed into a group of pedestrians outside the Asylum in the Village in the overnight hours early Friday morning.

Robby Manley was driving a red 1967 Camaro south on Flat Shoals Avenue. He was laying drags, lost control of the vehicle and drove up on the sidewalk, Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones said.

The Camaro struck three men on the sidewalk and pinned one of them for an instant, against the building which is at the the corner of Flat Shoals and Stokeswood avenues.

"Once the vehicle came to a stop, Mr. Manley ran around the corner and threw his keys," Jones said. "He was located and arrested. The keys were located."

Two of the victims were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with leg injuries. The third was treated at the scene and released.

Manley is charged with DUI, failure to render aid, failure to maintain lane, hit and run and several other charges.

Manley complained of pain in his foot and was transported to Grady Detention, Jones said.
