Carjacking in East Atlanta

Victim was struck in the face with handgun.

EAST ATLANTA — Atlanta police are looking for three men wanted in connection with an early morning carjacking in the 1500 block of Glenwood Avenue.

It's unclear if this incident is related to a seperate carjacking case in Woodland Hills later that same day.

The victims told police they were returning from the McDonald's on Moreland Avenue at about 1 a.m Jan. 2 and parked at their home when they saw a red Dodge pick-up truck drive by on Palsey Avenue, the nearest cross-street to their residence.

The red truck turned around at the end of the street and came back toward them on Glenwood.

When the red truck passed them and reached the stop sign, a black male wearing a gray beanie hat and red shirt exited the vehicle and began walking west on Glenwood.

The male victim said the man opened his car door, pointed a black semi-automatic pistol at him and told him to get out of the car.

At the same time, the female victim reported that two other men came up on the passenger side of the vehicle and ordered her out of it.

One of the men was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and the other was wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt.

She complied, saying she ran and hid behind some bushes. She told police she saw the truck go west on Glenwood, saying it was either a Ram or Dakota.

She noted the passenger side door was painted black from the window down.

While she complied with their order to exit, her male companion did not immediately do so, which resulted in the gunman striking him in the face with the gun.

All three suspects then got into the victim's vehicle and left the scene travelling eastbound on Glenwood.

Anyone with any information is urged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404.577.TIPS (8477).
