Bike Theft Sparks Warning in East Lake

A man stole a bicycle Monday morning from the garage of an East Lake Drive home in East Lake near the Ridgecrest Road intersection — while the homeowners were home.

The thief went into the homeowners' garage, which was open, and stole the hybrid bike around 10:30 a.m. The homeowners, who reported the theft to the police and the neighborhood list serve, said they caught the thief with the GT hybrid bike in his hands running from the house. But not before scratching a car in the garage and another vehicle parked in the driveway.

The thief ran down Ridgecrest — with the homeowners following — and escaped.
