Assailants Fight East Atlanta Bar Patron, Steal Car

Victim fought two men in parking lot theft

An East Atlanta restaurant owner is warning Village patrons to be vigilant and aware following an attack on one of his employees that resulted in that worker's car being stolen.

Atlanta police are looking for the two men believed to be responsible for the 1:30 a.m., Nov. 28 incident that left the victim with bruised ribs and broken glasses. His car was later found at an impound lot later that day.

"It breaks my heart," said Kyle Bosdell, a co-owner of the Glenwood restaurant.

After an evening out, the victim headed back to his car, which was parked in a lot behind Glenwood Avenue, between Flat Shoals and Gresham avenues.

As he approached, the victim saw one of the men in his car, while an accomplice waited in another vehicle parked alongside.

When the victim called attention to the attempted theft, he got into a fight with the two thieves who kicked him in the ribs and broke his glasses before fleeing in their vehicle.

Though it was his night off, the victim telephoned Bosdell and the police.

The car thieves left the victim's car behind, but not before manipulating the ignition and starting the vehicle. The victim couldn't get into his car because the thieves broke the door lock. The victim called a locksmith.

For a short period of time the vehicle was left unattended and police alerted the victim that it had been stolen before it was recovered later in the day at an impound lot.
