UPDATED: APD Investigating Shooting On Moreland Avenue

Shots fired near Moreland and McDonough Blvd SE

The intersection of Moreland Ave. and  McDonough Boulevard SE — near the Starlight Drive-In theater and Mount Nebo Baptist Church — was blocked for a short period Monday afternoon, following a shooting.

APD Zone 6 Commander John Dalton said the the shooting occured further south at the Moreland Avenue and Isa Drive SE intersections in the Thomasville Heights neighborhood.

The victim was turning onto Moreland Avenue while the shooter was turning onto Isa, Dalton told EastAtlanta.Patch.com.

It is believed the two men knew each other, Dalton said, bebause the shooter stopped suddenly and moments later, shots were fired.

The victim, who was shot in the torso, drove away into DeKalb County and was later taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

The investigation continues as the victim's version of events and that of witnesses don't match, Dalton said.
