Reynoldstown is Not a Gay-Hating Haven

In response to: Did Gay Slur Spark Stabbings?

Dear Editor:

I did not go to that party [], however I know the hosts and lots of people that were there.

I feel that it is safe to say that there was no gay hatred among anyone I would know that would be at that party. Some of the residents perform drag at Mary's for God's sake. I wouldn't characterize this as a homophobic party to say the least.

Yes, it is Reynoldstown. I live in Reynoldstown. I don't think we deserve to be characterized as a gay-hating community.

This is one of the more progressive areas of Atlanta. I feel that the Patch should revisit this story later and clarify some facts and reports.

The recent occurrence in your town tells a different story, Ian.
Stop providing cover for hatred and violence and evil.

I do not believe that the homeowners were involved in the queerbashing, right? Nobody is accusing them of it. But it's ridiculous to say that just because you know the residents that that means there were no homophobes at the party...especially considering a dozen of them jumped someone and stabbed him in the back while mobbing and stomping him.

If the original story it mentioned that this man had been openly ridiculed all night leading up to the attack. I'm kind of curious why the folks doing the tormenting were allowed to stay at the party. Why were they not asked to leave or have the police come get them out before this incident. If you're hosting a party aren't you at some level responsible for the behavior of the guests in your house? Not that the hosts are to blame, but I wouldn't want to be them right about now, especially if they knew it was going on. yikes.

We spotted her last night (Thursday) just before the storm hit and chased her down May to CliftonRead More then up to Glenwood, where we think she turned into that development under construction across from the school. The storm swept in, and we lost her ... she was clearly panicked. Been back on the hunt this morning with no sign. Please call or text us at 423-653-5636 if you spot her!!!
