More Awareness Needed on East Atlanta Car Break-Ins

Letting people know there's a problem could help prevent them from becoming victims.

To the Editor:

Last night outside of Asylum (parking lot across from Midway) several cars got broken into. It seems that this happens A LOT in EAV. So, I’m reaching out to all media in the area to raise awareness that this is happening in OUR neighborhood and right under OUR noses.

I’m not really sure what can be done about this. I am searching for ANY suggestions and help. I would like to have signs posted in the parking lots warning people of the break-ins.

I know more serious crimes are committed in Atlanta, and this may seem minor, but for the persons involved, it’s a horrible situation. I am asking for your help and ideas to help raise awareness of this and maybe stop the break-ins before they happen.

Stop leaving valuables in your car. Its that simple. I can't believe people have not figured this out yet. Also its time EAV higher off duty cops for security patrols.

Easier said than done. I believe there are patrols but they can't be at all places at all times. Also, HIRING more off duty cops takes money and in this economy, it's hard to come by for these small businesses in the Village. I agree about not leaving anything in your car - and if there is nothing they will take nothing. Be careful and park in a well lit area. Make sure you walk out with someone, too. Be smart.

We spotted her last night (Thursday) just before the storm hit and chased her down May to CliftonRead More then up to Glenwood, where we think she turned into that development under construction across from the school. The storm swept in, and we lost her ... she was clearly panicked. Been back on the hunt this morning with no sign. Please call or text us at 423-653-5636 if you spot her!!!
