APS Redistricting: Relief In Peoplestown, But The Work Is Just Begun

'A chance to show the greater Atlanta area what a great school D.H. Stanton can be.'

Dear Editor:

Many of you have asked, how we feel. Obviously our neighborhood and community is elated and unbelievably grateful to the Atlanta Public Schools board for keeping us open and giving us a chance to show the greater Atlanta area what a great school D.H. Stanton can be.

Although we’ve stayed open, we are not done with our fight for an even BETTER Stanton. We have been, intend to, and are already working with our interim principal, Dr. Clara Taylor and all of the neighborhood community organizations, residents and parents to move forward on some of our plans. Not only a better physical state of Stanton ( we already have the front school sign letters ordered, and flowers going out front soon), but additions to curriculum, more community involvement and many other items are in the works and being discussed.

We have school-based meetings scheduled already and are working on a large celebratory gathering for residents, parents and children, with details to come soon.

Thank you all for your unbelievable help in keeping our story going, we couldn’t have done it without you all.
