Sit and stand tall to make space for your organs.  Engage your abdomen to strengthen and massage organs when sitting, standing and walking.

In yoga poses, we work in twists and back bending actions as a way to massage organs and get things moving.  We can also detox our mind by reducing repetitive, stressful thinking.  Let those thoughts go with your exhalation and think of what makes you grateful in your life.

Heat escapes from the abdomen - do leg lifts or boat pose to build heat in the body (not for that time of the month though-time to keep abdomen soft).

Eat and drink warming plants and herbs that are in season. Warm soups and beverages with ginger, cinnamon and cardamom keep the fire of digestion burning. Include lots of local greens to keep nutrition at premium for cold and flu season.

Enjoy lots of sleep and if sleepless, practice mindful relaxation - it could take you back to sleep and if not provide similar level of restfulness for mind and body.
