"Every Praise" may have saved boy's life.

When nine-year-old Willie Myrick was snatched from his driveway in Atlanta, the boy could think of only one thing to do: Sing.

Willie relied on faith and song, singing the gospel hymn, "Every Praise," until his abductor — perhaps exasperated, perhaps touched — finally released him unharmed.

First Coast News reports that Thursday evening, community leaders held a meeting in Willie's honor, celebrating his happy ending and telling other parents and children what to do if this happens to them.

In front of a crowded sanctuary at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, the boy recounted the moments in the car, the abductor cursing him and telling him to shut up while he continued in song.

"He opened the door and threw me out," Willie said. "He told me not to tell anyone."

Soon, Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Hezekiah Walker — the man who wrote the song — heard Willie's story, First Coast reported.

"It's just emotional to me because you never know who you're going to touch," Walker told 11Alive's Blayne Alexander.

Upon hearing the story, Walker made the decision to fly from New York City to Atlanta to meet Willie.

"I just wanted to hug him and tell him I love him," Walker said.

Thursday evening, First Coast reports, the singer entered the sanctuary of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church to a standing ovation, grabbing Willie into a tight hug as tears streamed down the boy's face. Walker then led the church, and Willie, in singing "Every Praise," the song that may have saved the boy's life.

The man who abducted Willie is still on the loose. Police have released a sketch and are asking anyone with any information to call CrimeStoppers at 404-577-TIPS.

M L GOINS,glad to see you know what I have and haven't read. Not only HAVE I read the entire Bible front to back I was a practicing Christian for over 30 years. I too had your opinions whenever somebody would question my Faith. Then I opened my mind and stopped following the herd and explored the facts. Glad I amaze you G-Mann, I am pretty amazing. Not spewing hate, just facts. Bible doesn't condone abuse of Woman huh? Which versus would you like? Out of context? TYPICAL response. Gen. 2:24 and Duet.22:13-21 where a Wife can be stoned if she's not a virgin?Duet.22:28-29 where a Woman must marry her rapist as her Father get paid silver for "his loss"? Always "out of context" when it goes against your belief I usually don't attempt conversations with Bible thumpers for it is impossible to have a logic one so I will leave now. Say Hello to the invisible man in the clouds for me

G-Mann, thank you. I realize alot of people will claim to know The Lord Jesus that have not even read what He said and did while on earth, like stopping the accusers of the woman 'caught' in adultery from stoning her to death. And you are so right Jesus said for husbands to love their wives even as He loves the church. I am so glad I worship God Almighty my Heavenly Father, His Holy child and my King Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit lives within me. I would never worship a man(invisible or otherwise), living in clouds. Of course I would not attack the tooth fairy (& waste my time) debating its existence either. I, too, am glad this child was brought up to trust in Jesus and this childs faith is in Jesus Christ. I am glad to be a real Christian, not just practicing at it, but living under Grace from The Lord Jesus Christ. And, although The Old Testament contains more prophecy now happening, one would have to read The New Testament to know what Jesus actually said while on earth in human form. Happy Easter G-Mann. I am so glad you commented with actual valid points. And I dont really know how to get throughthe wall of hate some people surround themselves in that tends to blind them from the truth. Thank you for taking your time and share your insight.

I was abducted once and sang Danzig's "Mother" until I was released. Dude was a freak too...like lotion boy in Hanibal. So happy Batman gave us Danzig and his talent, otherwise; I might have been raped and murdered. Praise be to Batman.

Mark, to God be the glory and may His blessings be upon you. I am not here to debate the mind of Christ, for the bible tells me that our thoughts are not His thoughts and our ways are not His ways. God said, He sat before us good and evil, and He told us to choose. If one is a child of God, he should have the mind of Christ. Because, God said let this mind be in you that is in Christ Jesus. With that being said, we know that God is love and that wickedness is the work of the devil.I believe in God, and that He lives. What you think or feel about the kidnapping is your right. God loves you and I do to. Prayer goods a long way, let us pray for the world in which we live, so that God will heal the land.

No matter what you personally believe, can't you just be happy that, at the very least, this child's faith provided him some form of comfort during such an awful experience? A child is home safe. Period. You say you have an "open mind" but yet here you are, telling everyone who believes in something other than what you do that they are wrong. Every single person is entitled to think for themselves and believe in what they feel in their heart to be true, including yourself and especially this child.
