Glenwood Celebrates Anniversary With Fundraiser For Georgia's Bravest

EAST ATLANTA — With three of four owners active or retired firefighters, helping others is embedded into the DNA of the Glenwood gastro pub.

The popular Village eatery celebrated its sixth anniversary June 22 with a fundraiser for the Georgia Chapter of the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund.

The Glenwood raised $3,170 for the Georgia chapter, which its owners presented to the organization's state director, Mike Korsch, on July 2.

Named after Terry Farrell, a New York fireman who lost his life in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers, the fund raises money for scholarships for children of fallen firefighters and offset medical expenses of those who are injured on the job.

It also uses funds toward the purchase of new equipment for departments in need.

The Georgia chapter, which was founded in 2011 and is one of 12 nationwide, has raised more than $15,000 for various related causes across the Peach State.

Glenwood co-owner Mark Sherman and Korsch spoke with East Atlanta Patch about the cause and why it's so important to the restaurant.
