The New School - Parent Info Session for New, Independent Atlanta High School

The New School's next Parent Information Session is November 13

The New School is ReThinking Education - http://tnsatlanta.org

The New School is an experiential, project-based high school opening in August 2014, where students will take rigorous academic classes like Physics, AP English, and Precalculus, and will apply that learning by working on innovative, extended projects with real-world importance.

These aren't the same old school projects you might be thinking of. For example, next year's 9th grade class will be conducting a year-long study of how the different forms of transportation technology have transformed Atlanta's cultural, political, economic, and racial topography. To do this, students will be using the city as the classroom, as they do original research and collaborate with professionals in the business and governmental communities that The New School is partnering with. Over the course of the year, they will build an interactive website to showcase their work, create 3-D maps that chart the changes in Atlanta over time, and pitch their transportation solutions to public officials and community leaders.

There is a lot that is different about The New School. So check us out at tnsatlanta.org, and come to one of our remaining Parent Information Sessions this semester. Our next session is in just a couple of weeks, on November 13, and we'll also be meeting on December 5. Both begin at at 6:30 PM, at The New School, which will be located in Inman Park at 1015 Edgewood Ave (next to the Inman Park MARTA station; in the Inman Park UMC building that recently housed the Atlanta School). You can RSVP to attend an information session by emailing peter@tnsatlanta.org.
