KIRKWOOD — In a year when tax revenues continue to decline, public schools are getting by on less money. As a state authorized charter school, Ivy Preparatory Academy at Kirkwood is operating with just 62 cents of every dollar that most public schools receive. That is why its recent collaboration with KaBOOM! and Verint Systems, an international software and services company with a regional office in Alpharetta, is a perfect partnership. KaBOOM! Is a non-profit that matches communities in need of playgrounds with organizations that donate funding and volunteers for community enhancement projects. The three groups work hand-in-hand through an established process that results in a playground that is built in just one day. KaBOOM! Has built 2,200 playgrounds across North America. The goal; for every child to have a playground within walking distance. On February 25, more than 125 Verint employees from locations across the world will join forces with parents, teachers, college students and East Atlanta community members to build the Ivy Preparatory Academy dream playground, garden and outdoor classroom. This will be a memorable event for the East Atlanta community. Verint, KaBOOM! And Ivy Preparatory Academy at Kirkwood welcome everyone to come enjoy the miracle of our "Playground Built in One Day". Volunteer opportunities are available on Build Day, Monday, February 25th. If interested, please email paytodayrae@gmail.com. We are also accepting donations of bottled water to keep our volunteers hydrated. The school is located at: 1807 Memorial Drive, Atlanta, 30317. https://www.facebook.com/KaboomComesToIvyPrepKirkwood @ivyprepkirkwood #IvyPlays

We spotted her last night (Thursday) just before the storm hit and chased her down May to CliftonRead More then up to Glenwood, where we think she turned into that development under construction across from the school. The storm swept in, and we lost her ... she was clearly panicked. Been back on the hunt this morning with no sign. Please call or text us at 423-653-5636 if you spot her!!!

This is a sales pitch, and not a very good one. This development is well over 2 miles from GrantRead More Park; even the map on the developer's site doesn't correctly show where the subdivision is. And where it is, is across Glenwood from Burgess-Peterson ES, where Glenwood is 4 lanes- good luck ever making a left out of there. But if you want to be able to hear I-20, I guess it's a great location.
