Become a Docent for Walking Tours on the Atlanta BeltLine Aboretum

Do you love horticulture? Do you love interacting with people? Do you love the Atlanta BeltLine?

You should become a docent who leads walking tours on the Eastside Trail! Apply today!

Docents are volunteers who are passionate and specially-trained to guide tours or lead projects within the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum. Both the walking tour and the training program are created by local non-profit Trees Atlanta and supported by Kaiser Permanente.

Docents introduce visitors to all facets of the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum, including the origins, beauty, and importance of native plants, as well as cultural and historical collections unique to the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum.

Trees Atlanta will give you all the information you need to confidently educate and engage visitors.

To become a Docent, applicants should:

  •     Be a Trees Atlanta member
  •     Attend all training sessions
  •     Commit to leading two tours or projects per month
  •     Have some prior level of horticulture knowledge (preferred)
Training includes personal instruction from area experts on horticulture collections of the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum, history and design of the Atlanta BeltLine, and much more!

To participate in the  training program, please fill out the application, or contact Kate Baltzell to answer any questions you may have.

Docent training starts on Thursday, April 3rd, and will take place every Thursday morning from 9:00 AM to 12 noon until May 29th. You must attend all the trainings.
