Atlanta Can't Live Without Grady - Restore Full Funding!

As you may have heard, due to a budget shortfall, Fulton County may cut in half its $50 annual contribution to Grady Memorial Hospital. They will vote on a preliminary budget on Wednesday, December 18.

Since Grady is also facing cuts in the Disproportionate Share Hospital [DSH] Funding it relies upon to serve uninsured patients, and Georgia has decided not to expand Medicaid, a dramatic reduction in support from Fulton would have very real consequences: Grady may need to close its outpatient mental health program, shutter neighborhood primary clinics, limit access to specialty care clinics, or increase co-pays.

We need to be at the next Board of Commissioners meeting - at which they'll be voting on the preliminary budget - to encourage the Commissioners to restore Grady's funding and preserve the services Atlanta residents rely upon. Attendees can reserve 2 minutes to offer comments at the meeting (you should arrive 30 minutes early to put down your name if you'd like to do so!)

If you can't make it or want to take action in the meantime, call the Fulton County Commission at (404) 612-8200 and tell them Atlanta Can't Live Without Grady.
