UPDATED: Some Voters in Atlanta-in-DeKalb Given Wrong Schools Race Ballots

Any voter who feels they have an incorrect ballot should notify a poll worker immediately, before casting their ballot.

CANDLER PARK — Elections officials are checking into a voting snafu in which some voters being given the wrong ballots for school board.

Kate Sandhaus, communications officer for the Candler Park Neighborhood Association, reported some voters going to the polls at the Epworth Church at Candler Park, were given the schools ballot for District 3, where teacher Matt Westmoreland is running unopposed.

But Candler Park is in District 1 the race where Leslie Grant is running to unseat incumbent Brenda Muhammad.

"We have someone on the ground now looking into this," Fulton County Spokeswoman Jessica Corbitt told East Atlanta Patch.

The Department of Registration & Elections  is working with DeKalb County and Kennesaw State University’s Center for Election Systems to identify the source of the problem, Fulton County officials said later in an e-mail update on the issue.

"The Department of Registration & Elections  is working with DeKalb County and Kennesaw State University’s Center for Election Systems to identify the source of this issue," the county's statement read.

"In the meantime, this location has been provided with additional provisional ballots to accommodate any voters who were affected by this issue. Each provisional ballot will be counted as provided by law.

As of late Tuesday morning. Creative Loafing reported Atlanta-in-DeKalb voters were still being given incorrect ballots in Candler Park.

And in the District 5 City Council race, which has incumbent Natalyn Archibong battling three challengers, one of those contestants, Christian Enterkin, is already demanding a new election be held, the newsweekly reported. She alleges her name is missing from some of the ballots.

Polls will remain open until 7 p.m. in all locations except the city of Atlanta, which will remain open until 8 p.m.
