Election Guide for Atlanta Voters

Here is the City of Atlanta's election guide:

Registered voters should verify their eligibility status and precinct information before heading to the polls for early voting or for the general municipal election. Registered voters can verify their information by calling 404-330-6500 or by email atlantaelection2013@atlantaga.gov.

The City of Atlanta Municipal Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

At that time, registered voters within the City of Atlanta, who have registered by Oct. 7, 2013, will vote to fill the Offices of:

  • Mayor
  • City Council President
  • City Council Members (15)
  • Board of Education Members (9)
  • Municipal Court Judges (7).

A Municipal General Run-off Election will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, if the race for any particular seat(s) results in no single candidate receiving at least 50% plus one (1) vote. Should a run-off election be necessary, the two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes for each particular office will compete in the Run-off Election.

The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

If a run-off election is required to fill the seat of Mayor, Council President, At-Large Council Member(s) or At-Large Board of Education Member(s), the Run-Off Election will be held at all polling places city-wide. If a run-off election is required only in City Council or Board of Education district contest(s); the Run-Off Election will be held at the polling places within the particular district(s).

Early voting is now open through Friday, November 1, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the following locations:

In the City of Atlanta
  • Fulton County Government Center, 130 Peachtree St. SW, Suite 2186
  • Adamsville Recreation Center, 3201 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW
  • Coan Recreation Center, 1530 Woodbine Ave. SE
  • Peachtree Hills Recreation Center, 308 Peachtree Hills Ave. NE
Elsewhere in Fulton County
  • North Fulton Elections Service Center, 7741 Roswell Rd., Room 232, Sandy Springs
  • South Fulton Elections Service Center, 5600 Stonewall Tell Rd, Room 108, College Park
  • City of Alpharetta, City Hall, 2 South Main Street, Alpharetta
  • City of Roswell, City Hall, 38 Hill Street, 2nd Floor, Roswell 

Photo identification information

Per Georgia Law, voters must bring photo identification when voting in person, including during early voting.  A full list of accepted forms of identification is available online.

Residents who do not have photo identification can get a Voter Identification Card at any Fulton County Department of Registration & Elections office.

Absentee ballot information

Any voter who prefers to vote in the Nov. 5, 2013 General Election by absentee ballot can submit a written request for an absentee ballot now. Voters may download an application here.

Mail your Absentee Ballot Application or letter requesting an absentee ballot to: Fulton County Registration & Elections, Attn: Absentee Ballot, 130 Peachtree St., SW, Suite 2186, Atlanta, GA 30303.

Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 is the last day to request an Absentee Ballot for the upcoming election. Voters do not have to provide a reason for voting absentee by mail.

If you prefer, you may fax it back to the Fulton County Registration & Elections, Attn: Absentee Ballot by Fax to 404.730.8839.

You also can request a ballot by phone by calling 404.612.7060 to request that it be mailed to you. Or you can request it in person at any of the three Fulton County Department of Registration & Elections Offices:

  • Fulton County Government Center, 130 Peachtree Street, SW, Suite 2186, Atlanta
  • North Fulton Elections Service Center, 7741 Roswell Road, Room 232, Sandy Springs
  • South Fulton Elections Service Center, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road, Room 108, College Park 

All Absentee Ballots must be returned to the Department of Registration & Elections no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 5 (deadline for City of Atlanta only - 8 p.m.)
