Thomasville Heights Elementary Hosted Entertainers and Bankers During Annual Career Day

On Wednesday, March 24, 2013, Thomasville Heights Elementary School hosted its annual Career Day.

The students at Thomasville Heights Elementary had one of the most encompassing Career Days that we have ever heard of, including well known entertainers and successful bankers.  The Thomasville Heights Annual career day was held on March 24th.

According to the APS blog, TalkUp APS, "students had the opportunity to interact with a variety of professionals including dancer and actor Shameik Moore from the Cartoon Network show “Incredible Crew”; V-103 radio personality, Lil Bankhead; Ventriloquist, Willie Brown; Lamont Ferrell with Just Jokes Entertainment; Daniel Frankson of Frankson Realty & Investments, and more!"

Every presentation given by a professional was interactive, including the presence of the Atlanta Police Department who showed up with motorcycles, horses from their mounted patrol, and even SWAT vehicles.

“Today was not only informative and educational, but it was fun as well…students were able to actively engage in exciting careers that may shape their future,” says Instructional Coach and Career Day Coordinator, Mrs. Cowan.

The APS Blog also reports that, "students were also treated to free haircuts from a local barbershop that took part in the festivities. While the students sat waiting for their turn, barbers explained the steps necessary to becoming a licensed barber and detailed the daily challenges and perks of the job."

If that was not enough, the children were treated to a Live DJ who also told them about his profession.  The staff at Thomasville Heights should be commended for motivating their students to continue to, "work hard in school in order to achieve their career goals in the future."
