The Week Ahead in East Atlanta

You can take a home buying class, learn to build birdhouses, attend a festival along Olmsted Linear Park, become educated about mushrooms and go to a book swap.

Here are five things to know about the week ahead in East Atlanta. For a full list of things to do, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Home buyer seminar. Learn the basics at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 749 Moreland Ave. SE. Free.

2. Birdhouse building. Susie Antell of Art Attack teach kids ages 3-10 how to build and decorate birdhouses at 10 a.m. Thursday at Brownwood Park, 602 Brownwood Ave. SE. Free.

3. Spring festival on Ponce. This festival along historic Olmsted Linear Park takes place Saturday and Sunday and includes arts and crafts. Free.

4. Mushroom class. 5th Kingdom will lead a class on mushrooms at Brownwood Park, 602 Brownwood Ave. SE. Students will leave with a take-home grow bag. 3 p.m. Saturday. $25.

5. Girl Scouts book swap shop. The Book Swap Shop is open every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Girl Scout Room at Park Avenue Baptist Church at 486 Park Ave. SE. Free.
