Family-Friendly Bets

When/Where: Saturday at 8:15am in - near the entrance to Zoo Atlanta.
Why Go:  Start your Saturday off with a family walk or run and do some good supporting two local organizations - Kate’s Club and Senior Citizen Services of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc.  Awards will be given to the top 10K male and female finishers in each age group (this is a Peachtree qualifier) - walkers are welcome and encouraged and will start in a separate wave.
Same day race registration bib and packet pick up will begin at 7:15am at the race.
Pricing:  10K is $35.00 until May 19 and $40.00 for late and race day registration; 2K run/walk is $25.00 until May 19 and $30.00 for late and race day registration.

When/Where: Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am until dusk in the Historic Oakland Cemetery,  248 Oakland Avenue, SE.
Why Go:   Take a family bike ride to this weekend music festival benefiting the Historic Oakland Foundation. The Atlanta Bike Coalition will be on hand to provide valet bicycle parking outside the main gate on Oakland Avenue! All genres of music will be represented on several main stages and on vignette stages throughout the cemetery and food and drink will be available for purchase. Free guided mini tours will be given throughout both days.  
Pricing:  Adults $10.00 for one day or $15.00 for a two day pass; Children 12 and under $5.00 or $10.00 for a two day pass.  


When/Where: Saturday, 11:00am at.
Why Go:  Beach season is upon us!  Find out what happens when a boy builds a sandcastle on the beach and a dragon moves in- This picture book by Jodi Moore is most suited for children 4-8 years old.  
Pricing: Free.  

When/Where: Saturday at 1:00pm, Central Library, One Margaret Mitchell Square, Atlanta.
Why Go:  Enjoy a presentation by storyteller Mama Koku and meet and hear from I Lost My Tooth in Africa picture book author Penda Diakité and illustrator Baba Wague Diakité at this special event. The first 50 children will receive a free copy of the book.
Pricing:  Free.

When/Where: Saturday from 4:00pm to 10:00pm in .
Why Go:  Join the Friends of Candler Park for this amped up Movie Night event - from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, bring your unwanted electronics for recycling (and receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win great prizes) and purchase a native plant from EcoAddendum (with 20% of proceeds to benefit the Candler Park Nature Trail).  At 7:00pm enjoy a performance by the Seed & Feed Marching Abominables and then have a picture taken with Captain Planet before watching a screening of the Captain Planet movie at 8:00pm!
Pricing: Free to attend - hot dogs, not dogs and King of Pops will available to purchase - coolers welcome but no glass.
