What's happening this week

  • NPU-M: Neighborhood Planning Unit-M, which includes the Sweet Auburn, Old Fourth Ward, Downtown and Castleberry Hill neighborhoods, meets Monday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Helene S. Mills Senior Multipurpose Facility, 515 John Wesley Dobbs Ave. NE. See the agenda here.
  • Grant Park Neighborhood Association Economic Committee meets Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at the City Limit Café, 280 Connally St. SE.
  • Atlanta Police Dept. Zone 6 Redesign Meeting: APD, which has held a series of meetings with the public to discuss proposed changes to its six zones, meets at 7 p.m. Thursday at The Entrepreneurium, 1599 Memorial Dr. SE. Zone 6 currently includes the Little Five Points, Kirkwood, East Atlanta Village and Poncey-Highalnd neighborhoods, among others.
  • Grant Park Security Patrol Annual Meeting: The GPSP meets Saturday from 2 p.m. t0 4 p.m. at the Grant Park Recreation Center, 537 Park Ave. SE. The community is invited to elect the 2011-2012 GPSP officers, to learn about crime trends and ways to protect personal property and to meet fellow GPSP members and patrol officers.
  • Zoo Atlanta Be A Zookeeper for a day: Want a firsthand look at what it’s like to work at the Zoo? On Saturday, you can spend the day helping keepers with their daily routines, including preparation of meals, animal care and cleaning. Participants will be help zookeepers with the the elephants and warthogs. You must be at least 14 years of age to participate. The Zoo is at 800 Cherokee Ave. SE in historic Grant Park.
