Five Things Happening This Week

Events of note taking place in East Atlanta Patch

TUESDAY:

East Atlanta Community Association meets tonight at 7 p.m. in the Branan Towers senior building at 1200 Glenwood Ave. Among the featured speakers are Natalyn Archibong, East Atlanta's representative on the Atlanta City Council, and state Sen. Jason Carter, whose district also includes theneighborhood.

Kirkwood's annual Wine Stroll. Hosted by the Kirkwood Business Owners' Association, the stroll — which is $25 per person — features wines from around the world at participating shops in the neighborhood. The money raised goes toward beautification efforts and other improvements to the business district. It starts at 6:30 p.m.

SATURDAY:

Candler Park Movie Night. 1500 McClendon Ave., showing "The Karate Kid" at dusk.

East Atlanta Strut. This annual — the highlight being the Strut Parade — features live music, comedy, artists markets and a 5K run/walk. It's an all-day affair in the heart of the Village at Flat Shoals and Glenwood avenues.

Old Fourth Ward clean-up. Community members are invited to help clean up the corner at Krog Street and Dekalb Avenue, a highly traveled and very recognizable corner of the neighborhood at 9 a.m. If you can't make the whole morning, even an hour will help!  Please bring gloves, trash bags, wheel barrels, rakes, shovels, pruners, your own water.
