Update: Ellis Speaks To Employees, Denies Wrongdoing

The indicted DeKalb CEO made his first major appearance on Monday in a staff meeting with county employees.

Indicted DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis made his first extended public appearance on Monday since his indictment last week.

Ellis held a stakeholder meeting with county employees, in which DeKalb spokesperson Jill Strickland Luse said, "The CEO is speaking with employees to about continuing to remain focused and to work hard."

Afterward, Ellis told the AJC he has no intention of resigning and denied any wrongdoing..

Ellis was indicted last week with 15 charges that he illegally pressured contractors into giving him campaign contributions.
