Blue Frog Cantina To Close

Site to become Irish-themed eatery

East Atlanta Villagers who complain there are too many Latin-themed — OK, Mexican — restaurants take note: After today, the EAV will have one less.

The , which opened several years ago in what had been the very popular Heaping Bowl & Brew, is closing, Creative Loafing says.

A Facebook fan page asks patrons to come and celebrate the eatery's last hurrah.

Creative Loafing says spot is slated to become an Irish pub.

It's not clear why Blue Frog is closing.

But one complaint that we've heard over the years about Blue Frog was that the food was hit or miss — too often a miss.

It seemed to hold its own in the EAV, competing against other Latin-inspired food spots such as Holy Taco and the former La Casita (now So Ba, a Vietnamese restaurant).

Most recently, opened up as an option.

Seriously sad about this. As a regular customer I strongly disagree with the food being "hit or miss" as mine was always "hit". As a matter of fact, the week before they closed was the first time I'd ever been disappointed and even then, it was a mild disappointment at best and completely understandable now that I realize they were likely at the end of their food supply and didn't want to buy new. We are seriously going to miss this place. It has won night after night over first La Casita and later Holy Taco and CERTAINLY over the new flavorless Tomatillo's. Don't get me wrong, I love a good corned beef and cabbage, but an irish restaurant is just not the same as your trusty neighborhood mexican place. Blue Frog will be missed

Blue Frog will indeed be missed. They had the BEST margaritas and the BEST DJ on Friday nights. Perfect neighborhood spot for us. Sad is an understatement right now for me.

We spotted her last night (Thursday) just before the storm hit and chased her down May to CliftonRead More then up to Glenwood, where we think she turned into that development under construction across from the school. The storm swept in, and we lost her ... she was clearly panicked. Been back on the hunt this morning with no sign. Please call or text us at 423-653-5636 if you spot her!!!
