Marcademy Names Local Resident Public Relations Vice President for San Francisco-based Internet Marketing School

Richard Orr, Ormewood Park, has been named Vice President of Public Relations for Marcademy, Inc. (http://Marcademy.com/), one of the country’s fastest growing educational institutions. Through its flagship Marcademy Fellows program, the San Francisco-based institution makes it possible for U.S. military veterans, transitioning servicemembers, and current National Guard and Reserves personnel to learn Internet marketing from world-class professionals, receive hands-on training, peer communities and access exclusive job opportunities.

Orr’s professional background spans corporate marketing departments, advertising agencies and non-profits including Ashworth College, where managing the school’s military marketing efforts was a part of his responsibilities. Over the years he has also worked for James Madison High School, Fund for Theological Education, Missouri Military Academy, the Indiana High School Athletic Association, and Grey Advertising. Currently, he is also a member of AT&T‘s Home Solutions advertising team. Through technology, he will work remote and continue to live in Atlanta.

“Richard is a top flight education marketer who is creative and resourceful with increasing a post-secondary education institution's awareness and brand identity,” said Tim O’Connor, Marcademy‘s chief executive officer. “In a world where messages blend together he knows how to break through clutter using multiple aspects of marketing, including PR, media, advertising, special events and on-line efforts. He will be a great asset to Marcademy.”

Education has always been a major part of Orr’s life. He graduated from Butler University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and pursued his MBA at Oglethorpe University. He has maintained his college ties by serving on the steering committee for both Butler University Alumni Club of Atlanta and Phi Delta Theta Alumni Club of Atlanta. He also volunteers with Phi Delta Theta undergraduate chapters and alumni clubs across Georgia and South Carolina.

“It can be challenging for servicemembers to establish careers after transitioning to civilian life – it is an amazing opportunity to help close this gap through education,” Orr said. “It’s going to be very rewarding to build awareness of Marcademy among the military community.”
