Hundreds come out to toast the renaissance of the old City Hall East

Talk about a block party.

Hundreds came out Saturday to party and celebrate the planned rebirth of the Old Fourth Ward's City Hall East building.

Jamestown Properties announced a $27 million purchase of the former Sears building at Ponce de Leon Avenue and Glen Iris Drive in August. The company plans to pour $180 million in revitalizing the 16-acre site.

When done, the project, which will be called Ponce City Market, will feature major retailers, restaurants and have office residential components.

Proceeds from the party — tickets were $90 each — went to benefit the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership and Georgia Organics.
