Patch Asks: Does Southeast Atlanta Lack Destination Restaurants?

Many are are happy to see celebrity chef Kevin Gillespie is opening a new restaurant in Glenwood Park, but is this part of the city a foodie draw?

The announcement that Atlanta's Chef Kevin Gillespie plans to in Glenwood Park is welcome news for Southeast Atlanta.

Gillespie, who lives in Ormewood Park, has developed a foodie following and Gunshow, as the new restaurant will be called, will likely be a destination eatery.

We've heard from some East Atlanta Patch readers who feel that this side of town doesn't have enough in the way of destination food spots.

There's the in Grant Park, of course, which recently . And there are other chefs who've built a following such as Calavino Donati of in East Atlanta. Cabbagetown has Agave.

Still, some of the folks we've heard from say we're behind other parts of town like Buckhead and Midtown when it comes to destination restaurants — unless you include the plethora of fast food chains that line Moreland Avenue.
