Midway Makes Best American Sports Bars List

EAST ATLANTA – From fútbol to football and baseball to basketball, sports fans on this side of town flock to the Midway Pub.

Add in owner Carsten Green's extensive beer menu, and you have what CNNTravel.com says is a recipe for one of the best sports bars in America.

The Midway, which East Atlanta Patch readers voted as having the best patio last year, is one of 101 sports bars so honored.

(Only two other Georgia brewhouses, Stats in Downtown and the Royal Peasant in Athens, made the list.)

To compile its list — the sports bars weren't ranked — CNN Travel considered local "best of" contest and the recommendations of bloggers and sports fans, among other considerations.

Of Midway, CNN Travel wrote:

This sports temple exudes a populist appeal. You like bone-crunching NFL games? Got it. PGA match play? It’s on. March Madness? Bet on it. UEFA Champions? You’ll find it.

The 100-plus beer menu is similarly all-inclusive, from Old Milwaukee Tall Boys to rare Belgian grogs served in snifters.
