Inman Park Votes to Support Euclid Avenue Home Construction Project

Some residents voice concern about traffic, parking.

The Inman Park Neighborhood Association voted Wednesday to support a Kirkwood developer's plans to construct two single-family homes on two lots on Euclid Avenue just off Druid Circle NE.

The developer, Thrive Homes, actually has three lots, but is only building on two — 840 and 846 Euclid — because the homes are being built on spec, meaning they don't have immediate buyers.

The lots, which are next to the Lizzie Chapel Baptist Church, will share a 10-foot-wide driveway easement that runs behind the property.

The homes, which are 3,782 square feet and 3,722 square feet, respectively, are designed by Adam Stillman, an Inman Park-based architect and conform to the design regulations as stipulated by the neighborhood's historic district overlay.

IPNA can't approve or deny the project. It can only make a recommendation to support or deny it to the Urban Design Commission, which will take up the matter at its Aug. 22 meeting.

Though the neighborhood supports the project, some residents expressed concern about the additional traffic and potential parking problems the development will add to Druid Circle, which is a one-way, narrow thoroughfare.
