Fox Bros.' Head Chef Loses Cancer Battle

Charlotte Nelson was 37.

CANDLER PARK — Charlotte Nelson, the beloved head chef of Fox. Bros. Bar-B-Q, has died.

Ms. Nelson, 37, passed away Saturday night, a little more than two months after discovering she had stage four inflammatory breast cancer.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Her friends and family had planned a fundraiser Feb. 26, and that will continue as a celebration of her life, a Fox Bros. spokeswoman told East Atlanta Patch Monday.

That event, Charlotte’s Web…Cancer Touches Us All, is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the SweetWater Brewery, 195 Ottley Drive NE.

Tickets are $100 and proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, as 92 percent of donations there go to directly back to research.

Born in Fresno, Calif., June 21, 1975, Ms. Nelson had a longstanding love for cooking and graduated from Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Ore.

After graduation she moved to Atlanta and worked at Canoe for Gary Mennie and co-opened Livingston with him.

She also worked at Atmosphere and Taurus, before joining Fox Bros. in 2009. She became head chef at Fox Bros. in 2011.
