UPDATED: Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q Heavily Damaged During Storm

in Candler Park suffered extensive damage early Thursday evening, as a series of storms moved through metro Atlanta.
An oak tree fell on the landmark restaurant, landing on the dining room and outdoor patio.
No one was injured.

On Friday, co-owner Jonathan Fox told East Atlanta Patch the restaurant aims to reopen in some capacity on Saturday, Aug. 4 selling orders to go only.
On Twitter, the restaurant, which posted a picture from the restaurant's interior on its instagram feed, sent two tweets to its followers late Thursday:

On its Facebook page, Fox Bros. said the tree was 70 feet in diameter, and in addition to the dining areas, smashed two vans and a car.
The two dining rooms will have to be rebuilt and the restaurant said it would remain closed on Aug. 3. Fox 5 Atlanta reported another downed tree on Iverson Street in Candler Park, fell onto the attic of a home there.
Much of Southeast and other portions of Northeast Atlanta also were left without power for a period of time as a result of the storms and downed trees.
In East Atlanta Village, patrons of the Midway restaurant, there to watch the Olympic Games, suddenly found themselves in darkness for a period of time as heavy sheets of rain pummeled the neighborhood.
Just a feet feet down from the Midway, at the East Atlanta Village Farmers Market, the storms sent shoppers scurrying for cover.
Some took it in stride, however. One farmers market shopper, thoroughly soaked, traversed the rushing water down Flat Shoals Avenue barefoot to get to her car.
In an alert sent to Inman Park residents, Greg Scott, vice president for public saftey with the Inman Park Neighborhood Association, warned of multiple downed trees and asked that people avoid these intersections:
- Sinclair Avenue and Carmel Avenue
- Euclid Avenue and Hurt Street
- DeKalb Avenue and Delta Place.
A portion of Holiday Avenue NE, just off Seaboard Avenue in Reynoldstown, was closed off as downed powerlines dangled in the street from a broken utility pole.
