The East Atlanta Animal Clinic is is physically expanding and taking over the former Australian Bakery spot next door, which closed last year.

A telephone call to the clinic about its plans was not immediately returned Thursday, but an e-mail sent to clients, owners said the work will be done in stages.

"The most significant portion of the project is due to be completed in early January," the e-mail read.

"Although most major work will be done in the evening and on weekends we will still be affected. ... We hope that you will pardon the chaos, dust and chill as we proceed."

When complete, the renovations will include:

  • A separate entrance, exam rooms and treatment space for cats, as well as a larger boarding area for them.
  • A new restroom for client use.
  •  More kennel space for large dogs.
