Big Nerd Ranch Relocating Corporate Headquarters To Kirkwood

Tech development and training firm acquired former Iron Works building.

Big Nerd Ranch, a technology development and training firm, purchased the Iron Works building at 1989 College Ave. in Kirkwood and is renovating the 6,331-square-foot facility for use as its U.S. headquarters.

The company is a software and apps maker which counts Apple Inc., Google Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. among its clients.

Terms were not disclosed.

Aaron Hillegass, company founder, said the firm, which also has offices in Birmingham and Washington D.C., as well as Amsterdam in the Netherlands, outgrew its Atlanta area space.

The company, which employs 30 in Atlanta, worked with Invest Atlanta, the city's economic development arm for support and permitting assistance.

“It is exciting to support an organization that will play a role in strengthening Atlanta’s economy and global competitiveness,” Brian McGowan, president and CEO of Invest Atlanta, said in a statement. “Atlanta is fortifying its position as one of the country’s premier technology hubs.”

Big Nerd Ranch’s headquarters site will accommodate current staff with enough space scaled to expand as the company grows.
