Beer Chase, NPU meetings, the Dark Forest and More

A quick round-up of things of note happening this week.

MON - Oct. 22: Neighborhood Planning Unit-M, which advocates for the Old Fourth Ward, Downtown and Castleberry Hill neighborhoods, meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Helene S. Mills Senior Center, 515 John Wesley Dobbs Ave. NE.

TUE - Oct. 23: Neighborhood Planning Unit-O, which advocates for East Lake, Kirkwood, Villages of East Lake and Edgewood, meets at 6:30 p.m. at Bessie Branham Park, 2051 Delano Dr. NE.

WED - Oct. 24: Neighborhood Planning Unit-W, which advocates for the East Atlanta, Grant Park and the SAND communities, meets at 7:30 p.m. at Martha Brown United Methodist Church, 468 Moreland Ave. SE.

THURS - Oct. 25: The East Atlanta Community Association, in partnership with East Atlanta businesses, artists and performers are producing a one-of-a-kind environmental immersion event in Brownwood Park for the 2012 Halloween Season. DrugaNacht: Seven Nights in the Dark Forest is the story of Vasilisa - a lovely maiden from Eastern European folktales of yore - who seeks the gift of fire from Baba Yaga, a devil witch conversant in the forgotten languages of the Underworld. Tickets are $10.

SAT — Oct. 27: The Inman Park Beer Chase 5k and Beer Fest. What better way to spend a Saturday but to run a 5K and then sample more than 100 craft beers. The day starts off at 11 a.m. with a 5K race through Historic Inman Park and the Freedom Park PATH. After the race, imbibe in more than 100 beers from local and national craft breweries.

Tickets:

  • $40 Advance/$45 Day of the Event for the Beer Festival only, which includes all the beer you can safely consume
  • $27 Advance/$30 Day of the Event for the 5K only
  • $60 Combo ticket for the 5K and Beer Fest

Festival tickets are available through Ticket Alternative and Race and Combo tickets can be obtained through Active.com.
