Avondale Cycles to Peddle Bikes in Old Fourth Ward

Avondale Estates bike shop is relocating to Atlanta.

OLD FOURTH WARD — Avondale Cycles has shuttered its doors in Avondale Estates and plans to set up shop here in Atlanta.

The bike shop, which operated out of a 1,600-square-foot facility at 2754 East College Ave., is reopening March 4 at 151 Sampson St. NE.

The new facility, which will be called Atlanta Beltline Bicycles, is about 2,500 square feet. The larger space was a key factor in the decision to relocate, owner Benjamin Stimis said.

He will open Atlanta Beltline Bicycles March 4 at 151 Sampson St. NE, Atlanta.

Stimis started out in Avondale Estates with Label Discount, which sells Costco overruns. He put a few fixed-up bikes out front and discovered they sold quickly, so he expanded that part of his businss.

The Atlanta store will sell only bikes, he said.

This will be a massive hit being right on the Beltline! I've heard other bike shops around Atlanta have seen an increase in sales since the Eastside Trail has been open. I do hope they create a back do to their business facing the trail. Welcome to the neighborhood!

This is great news! living on the beltline puts me in the market for a new bike. Nothing fancy though. :) You can travel soooo fast from Inman park to Piedmont park via bike. It takes forever if you drive. Love the beltline and love all the new businesses.

Great news for the Beltline and the O4W! Is the location they're moving in to the current location for the 'Used and Abused' thrift store?

@Eric, I think so.

Benjamin's working hard on a Beltline side 'main' entrance. its the natural progression to the shop development and if any, pushback or delays would be coming from the property owner or the city end of things. Thanks for supporting the shop and the community.
